Narrative
It follows Elphaba, the would-be Wicked Witch of the West, and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. It is the second part of a two-part feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical. Wicked was first announced in April 2022 that it would be split into two films, with composer Stephen Schwartz explaining: “The truth is, we’ve been trying to make a movie for a while (that) required us to cut or leave out things that we wanted to put in and that we think fans of the show and the story would appreciate.” He added: “We found it really hard to get past ‘Defying Gravity’ without a break. That song was written specifically to bring the curtain down, and any scene that we could follow without a break would have felt extremely anticlimactic.”.
