The films starts off dull and unsteady, but slowly builds into a gripping story
Narrative
It follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a television documentary filmmaker whose work has long been based on exposing wrongdoings within respected institutions. Gary Oldman was originally rumored to be in the role, but he was replaced by Kevin Kline. I don’t know if Alfonso has an enemy on IMDB, which explains the crude and unfair 1-star ratings, but they are completely contradictory.
It gets darker and more complex with each episode
.At first, it doesn’t seem like a straight mystery, more like a tragic drama. But you start to feel like there’s more to the story than the seemingly obvious good vs. bad characters.
Now for the gray cat
To the point where I felt like I had to go back here to change my original review and add more stars. The situation with the cockroaches is disturbing and telling. A small detail, but this might be the first show I’ve ever seen that truly depicts the true cat-human relationship.
Curious, mischievous, funny, and gentle
How a cat is always there for you. I really appreciate a movie that doesn’t portray the cat as an alienated or even a dark presence. The gray cat in this movie has more charm than all the humans combined, and steals every scene he’s in.
I hope he gets an Oscar!
The show is great and I support it!
